4 Ways of Healing The Witch Wound for The Modern Mother

It was some time in early spring this year. I was practicing holotropic breathwork, releasing the pain and stuck energy from my daughter’s ICU experience, when my highest self said “WITCH WOUND.” My breathwork session was overtaken by the words repeating from my higher consciousness. Then my body started feeling discomfort, my wrists felt bound, my neck felt constricted, I could feel an overwhelming sense of betrayal consuming my emotions.

It was so intense and I was so confused.

I didn’t come here for this today?

When the breathwork session came to a close, I grounded back down, and my breathwork facilitator asked if I was ready to share anything. I was very close to walking out of there, pretending like it never happened, but I found myself melting into the gut wrenching discomfort and told her what I had experienced.

I believe that there is always a reason we are shown something from our higher self, and we are always ready to receive it at that moment, even if it takes time to fully understand the message.

When I left that day, I started digging into the concept of The Witch Wound. It was not something I had any familiarity with. It was not “on my radar” so to say in any way.

The Witch Wound is a deep rooted wound within the collective of all of humanity, originating from The Burning Times or Witch Hunt times, a dark period of history (for women specifically) that has been misconstrued over time.

During this period in history, women were horrifically tortured, hunted, and killed inhumanely for acts that the majority of the time had no grounds or proof of any wrongdoing. Women (and mothers) were torn from their children and homes, tortured until they accused a family member or friend.

How many of these women were actually doing malicious things? We will never know for sure, but what we do know from what small amounts of history have not been destroyed or lost in time, is that the accused women were many times those who were what we would see today as powerful, wise women. They were acquiring wealth without a man, were unmarried .. they were birth workers, healers, and herbalists. They were women who stood out among the crowd and were of great value, usually well respected in their communities.

This is the Witch Wound. A remembering deep within our soul that we aren’t safe if we stand out. We were pitted against one another. In order to survive as a woman at this time, you had to learn to keep quiet, follow the crowd, and remain suspicious of other women’s intentions.

It broke the female spirit. It broke the sisterhood of women.

It was a dark, dark energy that was so strong it still exists within us and affects the choices we make today.

When we become aware of this dark past, we sit with it, and then move forward to the present. The Wand(HER)wild Witch Wound Cohort, starting October 14th, focuses on how the Witch Wound shows up every day in our lives as mothers NOW, and begins the healing from these times that are still carried within us subconsciously.

We can step into our power, we can own our authenticity, we can mend the sisterhood by lifting each other up, we can bring light to the word “Witch”, and we can lead by example, the next generation, to come.

What are the ways you can first begin healing The Witch Wound within you?

  1. Conscious Awareness

You’ve already started the work by reading this today. You are now aware of the concept of The Witch Wound. Now you can start to explore how it shows up in your life and do your own research into what happened during The Burning Times.

  2. Let Your Truest Self Shine

Stand in your power and own your truest self, every part of you. This can be uncomfortable, and is truly a journey not for the faint of heart, but when you can accept and live in a way that let’s go of expectations from the outside, you can find healing, nourishment, and growth.

  3. Women Supporting Women

Change the narrative. Instead of watching reality tv that pits women against one another, or talk behind another mother’s back, start to support and lift one another up. Go support a local business that a mother opened, or invite a mother you don’t know well in your child’s school over for a coffee.

  4. The Modern Witch

Begin bringing light to the word “Witch” and understanding that “Witch” can be synonymous with female power, connection to nature, and spirituality.
